2 Important Things Bathroom Painting Ideas
Introduction
While everyone loves to decorate their homes, and painting is usually
at the top of that list, there are still those that seem to forget to throw
even a fresh coat on the walls in their bathrooms. It is understandable that
you would prefer to spend your time and money showing off the rooms that
everyone comes into, but having a nicely painted bathroom is something you
should think about giving yourself as well.
There are many things you must consider before you rush out and buy
your paint. The bathroom is the one room in the house that is continuously
under attack by heat, humidity, and water. Elements such as these will gather
mold and mildew at an extremely high rate. As such, you should make an effort to
subdue the process as much as possible. With that in mind you can buy interior
latex paint with a mildew inhibitor mixed in with it. Some people have used an
exterior latex based paint which has anti-fungal properties, but with such a
small space you shouldn’t use such a high chemically treated paint.
You should take time when choosing the colors you are going to want
your bathroom to be. The best way to choose is by going with the colors in your
bathroom tiles. The main color is the base and the accents can be used for your
trim paint. Once you have your colors chosen, all you have to do is decide how
you are going to do the actual painting. You can just do a basic paint job to
freshen the room up and give it a nice clean look, or you can go all out and
try something fancy to give your bathroom more of a formal aspect.
You can also add a border around either the top of the walls or the
middle to give it a good accent point. Make sure you are using colors that
complement each other and the colors in the rest of the bathroom. Wallpaper can
be used, but isn’t the best choice as the heat and moisture will eventually
cause the glue to degrade over time and you will find yourself having to peel
it all off in order to redo it again later. Of course, if you have the money to
put into it you should go ahead and run tile over the entire bathroom. This
gives it an easy to clean, elegant look and feel, and doesn’t require a repaint
every so often to make it look fresh again.
The choice is yours on how you want to decorate the walls in your
bathroom, but eventually you are going to have to decide one way or another.
Keep in mind, things like mildew and mold thrive in high heat and high humidity
areas, and your bathroom is probably the one room in the house that is
guaranteed to have both of those aspects. But the most important thing is to
have fun with your décor.
